In the mid-1850s, European settlers began arriving in Artemesia Township in south central Ontario. Eventually the local village, known as Artemesia Corners, was re-named Flesherton, honouring William K. Flesher, one of the first settlers. Agnes MacPhail, Canada's first woman parliamentarian was born and raised in nearby villages.

Flesherton, with its surrounding rural charm, offers many natural attractions including The Bruce Trail, Kolapore Uplands, Saugeen River, Eugenia Lake and Falls and Beaver Valley. For the athletic-minded there is excellent cross-country and downhill skiing, golfing, canoeing, hiking, biking and fishing.

During the growing season, visit the Farmer's Market, open every Saturday morning. Don't miss these annual events: The Split Rail Festival in September celebrating arts, crafts and local heritage or, The Flesherton Antique Show held twice a year on the Victoria and Thanksgiving Day weekends, sponsored by the local Kinsmen.
