An officer who fought in the Crimean War is the namesake for the rich dairying district of Campbellford. The Ferris family donated land to the people of Campbellford to establish what is now known as Ferris Provincial Park.

It is a scenic, peaceful drive of approximately an hour and a half from Toronto while many boaters choose the exquisite Trent-Severn Waterway as the Trent Canal runs right through the center of town. There are tie-ups and a pick-up service for overnight boaters. Others favour hiking, biking, or horseback riding along the Trans Canada Trail. The region abounds with fish and game of many varieties.

There is a lively arts scene, antiquing, hiking on scenic trails, and the many festivals and events in the town, with the western Arts Festival Theatre concerts and musical presentations in a reconstructed barn. The Indian Bike Museum and The Military Museum are worthwhile stops.

Gracious hosts treat you to traditional hospitality of Campbellford accommodation with superb resorts or B&B's.
