Brampton, just northwest of Toronto was known historically as the Flowertown of Canada because of acres of greenhouses, growing prize-winning flowers. In 1843 John Elliott, one of the town's earliest settlers, named Brampton in honour of his birthplace in England. In 1853 it was incorporated as a village, providing economic opportunities for thousands of settlers. Strong infrastructures of multi-cultural and industrial growth contribute to the success of this city.

On two rivers, with many lakes close by, Brampton offers wonderful opportunities for water sports. Local parks such as Professor's Lake or Wild Water Kingdom feature waterslides, windsurfing, canoeing, fishing, or paddleboating. Depending on the season, a day at Chinguacousy Park offers ice-skating, skiing, tobogganing, curling, skateboarding, tennis or mini-golf and picnics. The Peel Heritage Complex is housed in a renovated 19th century jail and includes a museum, art gallery and archives. From September to June, enjoy entertaining productions with the Brampton Live Theatre group.

Brampton accommodations are plentiful and include most major hotel chains, motels, bed and breakfasts and campgrounds.
