Midland, a lovely tranquil town on Georgian Bay, was originally the heart of the Huron Indian Nation. Fur traders and Jesuit missionaries arrived in the early 1600s and through their documents, journals and letters, historians have been able to reconstruct the daily life of over four centuries ago. Midland immortalized its history with over 33 giant hand-painted murals decorating its downtown buildings.

Visit the fascinating Sainte-Marie Among the Hurons, an excellent reconstruction of the Jesuit Mission and a Huron village. The Martyr's Shrine honours Jesuit missionaries, local pioneers and Christian Huron people killed by Iroquois warriors. You can cruise through the beautiful Georgian Bay 30,000 Islands or visit Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre, where you can wander woodland trails, floating boardwalks and wildflower gardens, enjoying a wetland habitat. The area offers excellent year-round recreation opportunities such as boating, scuba diving, golf, ice-fishing, snowmobiling and cross-country skiing.

Midland accommodations include quality hotels, motels, bed and breakfasts, cottages and campgrounds.
