Timmins boasts mines rich in copper, nickel, lead, tin, cadmium, gold and having the richest silver-zinc mines in the world. This mining industry quickly transformed Timmins in the early 1900s, from a fur-trading center into a world-class mining town. Forest based industry also employs many of the over 43,000 residents.

Timmins Underground Gold Mine Tours are hosted by former miners as guides, and provide demonstrations of gold panning and pouring resulting in informative and educational opportunities. A National Exhibition Centre illustrates displays of history, arts and crafts, complete with films and examples of mining machinery used back in the 1940s.

Recreational activities offered are spectacular fishing in the cold, clear, northern Ontario waters. Hunting, hiking, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, and skateboarding offer a relaxing blend of seasonal activities.

Timmins also happens to be the hometown of the successful country music star Shania Twain.

Timmins accommodation offers the traveler medium size motels, resorts, conference centres, camping grounds, and bed and breakfasts, many with an overview of the majestic northern landscape.

We are located near McIntyre Arena, the Porcupine Ski Runners club and Hollinger Golf Course. The Northern College of Applied Arts & Technology and the Kamiskotia Ski Hill are just minutes away.
