Populated initially by United Empire Loyalists and members of the Quaker community, Aurora grew up around the local crossroads of Yonge and Wellington Streets. Incorporated as a village in 1863 and a town in 1888, Aurora today is a flourishing town, located just north of Toronto. Hosting a wide range of commercial and industrial enterprises, the Town still retains its charming small-town atmosphere.

In summer you can hike the extensive Pedestrian Trail System, connecting Aurora's various parks and in winter toboggan at one of the locally designated spots. The annual Grand Prix Horse Jumping event is held every June at Machell Park. Visit the renovated Hillary House, built in 1862 by a local doctor and learn how family physicians lived and practiced one hundred years ago. Other annual events to watch for include the Living in Style Home Show, Art Aurora Show and Sale, World's Longest Street Festival, Aurora Fair, Concerts in the Park and the Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony.

Aurora accommodations include centrally located major chain hotels.
