A village on the Trent-Severn Waterway in east-central Ontario, Bobcaygeon incorporated as a village in 1876, and is known as the "Hub of the Kawarthas". Part of the amalgamated City of Kawartha Lakes it takes its name from the Mississauga word "bobcajewanunk", meaning "shallow rapids". It is built on three islands, joined by a series of seven bridges one of which is a unique swing bridge. Referred to as the City of lights and bridges, Bobcaygeon has more bridges per capita than Paris, France!

In 1833, Thomas Need settled at the narrows between Sturgeon and Pigeon Lakes. Following the construction of a small lock and canal, Bobcaygeon was incorporated as a Village in 1876.

Its main industry is fishing-related tourism and is an important service centre for farmers and cottagers. The Driftwood Summer Theatre annually presents family entertainment. Tourists and Kawartha Villagers enjoy Shakespeare Under the Stars highlighted with a guided backstage tour and introduction to cast and crew.

Bobcaygeon's accommodations welcome you to the adventure of exquisite choices of bed and breakfasts, cottages, lodges, and campgrounds.
