Brighton is located on Hwy 2 along the scenic shores of Lake Ontario in a well-protected harbour. Just north of the town is the Northumberland Ridge proving natural spring water that is gravity fed to the town. Settlement by United Empire loyalists in the 1700s turned this area into a world-class apple-growing centre. Nineteenth century architecture housed the early settlers who established some of the first apple orchards in Canada.

The Annual Applefest celebrates the local apple bounty with parades, entertainment dances, hay rides and displays by accomplished artisans in the park. Presqu'ile Provincial Pak is significant with its warm shallow waters, sand dunes and marshes. One of Ontario's oldest operating lighthouses and its keeper's cottage including an observation tower are located in the marsh boardwalk area. Widely acclaimed for the excellent fishing, antiques shops, bird watching, Brighton regains a charming small town atmosphere.

Country Inns Motels and Bed and Breakfasts dominate the many restored historical homes lending quaintness to Brighton accommodation.
