The Town of Caledon, established in 1974, represents an amalgamation of the former County of Peel Townships of Albion, Caledon and the northern half of Chinguacousy. The area encompasses a wide variety of major land formations, including the Peel Plain, Niagara Escarpment, Oak Ridges Moraine and the Credit and Humber Rivers. Settlement began in the 1800s and the area was well known for its various mills. There are many designated historical properties to explore.

Beautiful treed rolling hills and valleys are a joy for the hiking community. Be sure to explore the Caledon Trailway and Etobicoke Creek Trails, available for hiking, biking, cross-country skiing and equestrian pursuits. No motorized vehicles are allowed. The Town of Caledon lists 72 pesticide-free parks totaling more than 300 acres. In 2003 the Town was co-recipient of the TVO Greenest Town in Ontario Award for its progressive environmental initiatives.

Caledon accommodations in the area include a relaxing country inn and spa.
