Founded in 1837 by Colonel William Chisholm, the elegant town of Oakville is a vibrant community on the shores of Lake Ontario between Toronto and Niagara. The town has two harbours and in 1834 was designated a Port of Entry to Canada. Eventually, Oakville became fashionable as a summer holiday destination.
