Located on the Credit River about 45 km (28 mi.) from Toronto and 60 km (37 mi.) from Hamilton. Georgetown is the centre of commerce and industry in the north Halton area. In 1823, George Kennedy, a descendant of United Empire Loyalists, established himself in the area attracted by the abundant water supply for milling purposes. His mill became the beginning of a small settlement, which later became his namesake.

Today, public and professional services thrive alongside family-owned shops and restaurants. Georgetown maintains its focus on small businesses whose priority is customer service and an enthusiastic community. Whether browsing through unique shops, relaxing over a fine meal or taking a break for refreshment, Georgetown takes on an exuberant life of its own. Historic buildings bring international filmmakers to Georgetown, a frequent choice location, often seen in major motion pictures.

Small converted buildings, cabins, chalets, cottages, and private homes offer intimate and affordable Georgetown accommodation.
