Newmarket, situated among fertile rolling land on Yonge Street, north of Toronto, welcomed its first settlers, the Quakers, from Vermont and Pennsylvania, in 1801. The Town's colourful history includes involvement in the short-lived Rebellion of 1837, led by William Lyon MacKenzie. Today, Newmarket with a strong commercial base, has still managed to preserve its small-town appeal.

Stroll Main Street with its lovely old buildings, quaint streetlamps and, in summer, gorgeous barrels of flowers. Visit the Elman Campbell Museum, an interesting collection of Newmarket artifacts. Enjoy the Festivals and Events at Fairy Lake Park in the heart of town including: the Artisans Festival, Concerts in the Park, Kanata Festival, Theatre in the Park and the Winter Carnival - Winterfest. For the more energetic, be sure to try out Newmarket's 70 parks and recreation facilities offering everything from ice-skating in winter to tennis, golfing and hiking in summer.

Newmarket accommodations include a variety of hotels.
