Orillia, at the junction of Lakes Simcoe and Couchiching, was home to the Ojibway peoples. Eventually settled by Europeans, it became a major tourist mecca. Hydroelectric installations on the Severn River in the late 19th century meant Orillia became the first town in Canada to have electricity. Humorist Stephen Leacock, Group of Seven artist Franklin Carmichael and folk singer Gordon Lightfoot all called Orillia home.
You can picnic on the grounds while visiting the Leacock Museum National Historic Site with its mansion containing many of Leacock's writings. Enjoy a play or musical at the 100 year old heritage-designated Orillia Opera House, or choose to cruise on the beautiful surrounding lakes and waterways. Glory in the variety of summer and winter recreation from fishing and swimming to skiing and snowmobiling or try your luck at Casino Rama, 5 km north on Hwy 12.
Orillia accommodations vary from comfortable hotels, inns, motels, and lodges to bed and breakfasts, cottages and campgrounds.
We provide easy access to Lake Simcoe and Lake Couchiching. This Orillia, Canada hotel is minutes from numerous local attractions and points of interest, including Casino Rama, the Leacock Museum and Georgian College.
