Perth is located within easy commuting distance from all of Eastern Ontario. Located on the Trans Canada highway in a parkland setting along the Tay River, it was named after the town of Perth in Scotland. Following the War of 1812, Perth was established in the spring of 1816 as part of a strategic defense mechanism against possible invasion from the United States.

There is an abundance of Canadian history, architecture, and culture to be found in Perth. Inge-Va, one of Perth's oldest houses is an example of a Regency Cottage that offers a picture of life from the 19th century. The streets are lined with historical homes and shops situated in a picturesque setting along the unique Tay River.

Opportunities to discover the legacy bestowed by settlers of Eastern Ontario are abundant in Perth. Annual events include Festivals and displays of quilts, antiques, music concerts and a farmers' market from May to October.

Perth accommodations range from delightful bed and breakfasts, motor inns, and hotels.
