Wiarton Accommodations
Wiarton Ontario Travel Information
Of course the most famous Wiarton resident is Wiarton Willie, a groundhog or woodchuck. (Frankly the Latin sounds better: Marmota monax.) Back in 1956 a Ground Hog Day festival began in which an albino groundhog is aroused from its hibernation to predict if it's going to be an early spring. This seems a bit fishy considering a groundhog or any other terrestrial being could alter the timing of the vernal equinox. But a festival is a festival and everyone has a good time!
Other things to do include: hiking The Bruce Trail, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, visiting Bruce's Caves Conservation Area and fishing in Colpoys Bay.
Wiarton accommodations include hotels, motels, bed and breakfasts and campgrounds.
