Toronto Things to Do

This article is a call to all Toronto residents, former residents and visitors to share experiences about this city. Sign up on this site and let us know.

I am an ex-Torontonian and have some fond memories of what you can do in and around the city. For example, there’s a terrific walk or bike ride through the parks that I used to start at Alexander Muir Park, which is near Yonge and Lawrence. (By the way, Yonge St. is the dividing point between street names that have East and West as suffixes. E.g. Lawrence Ave. West and Lawrence Avenue East.)

If you access the park, which is across the street from Chatsworth Avenue, you can follow the path all the way south and east through parks like Sherwood Park and into the massive Sunnybrook Park, which is right behind Sunnybrook Hospital.

Other experiences we want to capture on the site include clubs (e.g. the Velvet Underground on Queen West), museums (like the Royal Ontario Museum), art galleries (e.g. the Ontario Art Gallery), historic sites (e.g. Fort York). Can you help?

Also, further away, is the Toronto Zoo, which frankly is best to visit on a cold day. If you want to see active animals, go in the winter and see the Tigers, and Canadian animals because they will actually not be asleep. One of my most memorable visits to the zoo was on a cold March day.

There is much to this big city and its nearby communities. Help me flesh this out!
