Originally named Berlin by its early German settlers from the 1800s, the city was renamed Kitchener in 1916 after the British General Horatio Herbert Kitchener. With a population of almost 200,000, Kitchener today is a diverse cultural centre that still retains its German heritage.

The annual Oktoberfest is one of the largest Bavarian festivals in the world attended by visitors who come to sample the German beer, foot and culture. Other attractions include the famous daily Kitchener Farmers' Market as well as historic sites and festivals like the KW Multicultural Festival, the Christkindl Market and Festival of Trees. Summer activities include golf, walking, biking and bird watching while winter attracts skiers and snowboarders of all ages.

Kitchener accommodations include major hotels, motels, Bed and Breakfast Inns, and the historic Walper Terrace Hotel where the Queen Mother, Louis Armstrong and most Canadian Prime Ministers have experienced its old world atmosphere and charm.

Located in Waterloo, unlike many traditional "bed and breakfasts", this immaculate guest house boasts three well designed suites with private in-room dining, ensuite bathrooms, walk-out balconies and access to the large indoor swimming pool. With just a 10 min drive to St. Jacobs, we provide an unrivalled experience with mature trees, lush green open spaces, natural gardens and a spring-fed creek.
