There are six major sub-regions in Northern Ontario.

Near North

Drive for hours through the Temagami region without seeing a soul or paddle the many waterways or hike dense forest trails. Alternatively visit the picturesque towns of the beautiful Ottawa Valley. Near North also includes Algonquin Provincial Park, peaceful and serene. Since vehicles can only drive to the entrance of Algonquin Provincial Park, it is the ideal location for those looking for a respite from the 'outside world'.

Algoma Country

Explore the ancient boreal forests and the world's largest game preserve. Ride the rails into the heart of the Canadian wilderness through the spectacular Agawa Canyon near Sault Ste. Marie.

Rainbow Country

Explore the mining town of Sudbury, where the history of the industry has been ingeniously preserved in the renowned 'Dynamic Earth' museum. Plus learn all about the mysteries of Manitoulin Island with its thousands of years of First Nations history.

Ontario's Wilderness Region

Visit Timmins, home of singing superstar Shania Twain and visit Cochrane, your access point to James Bay where polar bears and beluga whales play.

North of Superior

Led by Thunder Bay Ontario, where you will find the rugged, craggy coast Lake Superior as well as a stunning selection of Ontario Provincial Parks.

Sunset Country
